January 29, 2014

This past week has been nice. The best thing is that the Oakland temple opened this week from two weeks of renovations. They have been doing many interior updates recently.  I began working on the Wednesday day shift as an ordinance worker because Trevor wanted to serve with me in the Temple. He served with me last summer, and both of us has been trained in all the ordinances in the Temple except those that we are not authorized to perform. I felt so happy to finally get back into the work at the Temple. I was asked to baptize about ten people as the first thing. These people were the relatives of a sister. I have not baptized someone in a long time, so I needed extra instruction to perform them. Trevor stood as a witness, and he confirmed the people as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, giving them the gift of the Holy Ghost.  One thing that taught me the reality of the people behind the names was a special experience. I served as a witness in the sealing ro

My Eternal Perspective

by Aellen Ross They say life is from B to D it's from birth to death. So life starts from the day we were born until the day we die... but between B to D is C. what is C? It's a choice.. what happens to our life depends on the choices we make.. but if our choice is one more C which is christ, we can extend the "D up to E" and that's eternal life.. heavenly father and jesus christ had given us agency, the ability to choose right from wrong and to act for ourselves. but!! according to our faithfulness, we can receive the companionship of the holy ghost to enlighten and guide us in our lives and to lead us to eternal life and i know God always plans the best things for us,sometimes we feel being left out but actually God is saving the better one than what we actually asked for. so lets do our part as a children of GOD, if not now when? If not us who? striving to attaine my eternal prespective.

Prove All Things, Parts 1 & 2

Check out my last two blog posts, the series "Prove All Things." See my blog at WakeUpAndDoSomethingMore.blogspot.com ! Prove All Things, Part 1 Many people  missionaries  come in contact with want us to give them  evidence  and  proof  that we are right.  They want us to show them the church is true in the scriptures rather than accepting the Holy Ghost into their lives.  We can't prove that the  scriptures  or  our beliefs  are true. Only the  Holy Ghost  can do that. "For flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee" Even if we could prove everything, God still expects us to have faith. If we don't have  faith , it doesn't matter how much we can prove.  Hebrews 11:1 says: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Christ set the example  for us on how to know  spiritual truths  in  Matthew 16:15-17 . 15  He  saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And  Simon Peter  answe

Gilbert Temple Open House Pictures and Baptisms!

we've had such a fun week going to the Gilbert Temple this week and we still have tons more reservations we love these members, she is from Colombia an he is mexican, they are so fun! these are the other members that are super cool, she is from Peru and so is he. We went with a lady that doesnt come to church very often and her daughter her name is lisa :) We went to the temple yesterday with Roxane and her family except her son, they felt the spirit so strong especially in the celestial room. Asuncion the youngest asked who that was at the top of the temple, "the  angel moroni the one who appeared to joseph smith" "Does that mean anything" "yes, but i am not sure" that is how i picture angles in heaven, all in white, in heaven, in two columns, blowing their trumps ans Christ coming down in the middle" " have you seen that picture before?" "no. Ive just imagined it that way ever since i wa

Meet Tyler Smith

I'm thrilled to contribute to a blog like this that combines the efforts of so many saints from around the world! I live in Provo, UT, and I work for  +The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . I'm a pretty casual blogger, which means that my personal blog covers all kinds of topics, ranging from my evil pet crab to my latest technology obsession , to my faith . My most popular post is basically an invitation to watch general conference . My favorite thing about the internet is meeting interesting people. Please take a moment to say hello on Google+ if you get a chance. I'd love to meet you. I love photography, and I pretty much only take pictures with my mobile phone. That means that most of my pictures don't turn out, but occasionally I have success! I've recently started to cook--an adventure, to be sure. But it sure beats the incessant eating out and horrible diet that plague so many single adults. I'm determined to live a healthier lif

"Personal Testimony" By:aellen ross

Last Friday I was faced with some unexpected challenges. I tried to stay positive, but my attempts often failed, leaving me feeling frustrated and discouraged. Thankfully, I received encouragement from my friends in the church. While quietly listening on their advices, there's something I'd remember and one of that is the parable of Ten virgins, I learned a lot of things in this parable which i compared the vessels in the parable, where containers for storing extra oil. Being wise means being prepared for the unexpected challenges and trial's in our life w/ an extra measure of faith, testimony, and the spirit in our lives. Sometimes we grow complacent, thinking we had enough to get by, But following the savior means more that just getting by. It means always striving to draw closer to him, preparing for those times when our patience, faith, and testimony will be tried by others and i would never question God of what's happening in my life now. Rather, I would thank

January 25, 2014

Yesterday was my day off of work, and it was pretty interesting. At the Saint Francis Soup Kitchen, there was a little drama because a thief came in. A girl's iPhone was stolen. He tried to be quick and quite, but he was lousy because a second story was that he went through someone's coat and everything was put in different pockets. I am uncertain if she had anything stolen. The girl that had her iPhone stolen was crying. Michael Angulo and I were lucky to come in late, for our stuff could have been stolen. I didn't have anything valuable. The head supervisor was miffed, and Michael said that he would be angry. I am a minimalist, and I don't like having heaps of stuff. My mom has almost filled our garage with stuff. I don't think that I would be mad. Serving lunch was almost canceled.  I served in a bussing role in receiving all of the dishes. I liked this role because I was able to greet everyone, and serve them as they departed. A sister said to me that she did n

January 23, 2014

As I am blogging my journal, I am inviting all the Young Single Adults to join me as I establish a YSA Blog Spot. I have found committed bloggers. I am surprised how many people are willing to join me in the MormonYSA.blogspot.com. I am continuing to recruit as many bloggers that I can. Many people said that they would write for the blog spot, but progress is slow especially now that I have been working. Dealing with so many people has been good, but I am not without error. I apologize, if I offend anyone. I don't have much to write about because I have mainly been working. My date from last Friday went well, but I failed to make sure that I had a generous amount of money on my card for lunch. This apparently is a big no no. I just don't think about money much. I think that not thinking too much about money is a great quality. I trust God will provide like the lilies of the field. (Matthew 6:28-31) 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, h

Talents

As i thought about what i should write for my next blog post, i received the feeling that i should write about our individual talents. All of us were created different, individually. Each of us has talents that we can use to contribute to the people on this beautiful earth, and to also to make the earth more better. Each of us can receive peace, joy and happiness in this life, i firmly believe that we can receive blessings on well we use our talents for good and for the benefit of others and ourselves. Each of us has talents such as being able to shoot a basketball well or art or drama (theater) or able to build stuff with our hands etc., but sometimes we may forget that talents can also include, being able to talk to people or making people feel better about themselves, or being able to talk to random people etc. All of us have the capability to use our talents. Some may say that im not capable of what i like to do im not that good at it i want to but i cant. There is a way all

Families are FOREVER.

I never thought that the beginning of this new year, I would lose someone so close to me. I haven't lost anyone close to me since I was 16 years old. Losing someone close is always a difficult time and experience. My Nana Maria passed away 1/7/2014 due to health complications. She had diabetes, had a leg amputated due to it and lost her vision. The last few months of her life, she had dialysis done daily and couldn't eat or drink much. This is not a way, I had envisioned my aunt living her life. I am sad that I didn't get to officially say good-bye to her, but I know she will always be in my heart. I know, she is in a better place where she is not suffering anymore. She is with our Heavenly Father again. She is reunited with her parents and others who have left us behind. Only Heavenly Father knows why and when He takes His children back to His presence. Some day, we will understand that reasoning. All I can think about is the gospel. We have the Plan of Salvation and the A

Book of Mormon Reading Request - From Friday/Saturday to Conference in April

Today I was issued a challenge from a good friend that has a lot of potential: "Starting on Friday or Saturday, start the Book of Mormon over and read 8 pages a day. That will have you finishing it right at General Conference in April." Not only will it gear you for personal revelation, this activity is actually going to help my friend out with a fellowshipping activity she is conducting. She wants to show her friend she's inviting back to church that she's not the only one preparing for Conference by reading the Book of Mormon.  Who's up for it? 8 pages a day!  Comment below if you are ready to take the reading challenge!   And if you are, tag a blog post 8 Pages A Day or put #8PagesADay or #pray4laurie on your Facebook shares to read from others taking the challenge! - Jeremy Unitt

best week ever!!

First of all i would like to apoligize for being a scatter brain today, ill try my best. this week we taugh jessica and beatriz and we taught them the Plan of Salvation, they loved it even though they dont show a lot of enthusiasm, jessica had talked to her husband about the lessons and how she loves learning and feels really intrigued by our religion and she likes the testimonies that she hears from the members and they even knew one of the members we brought and they noticed a huge change in her and want the same. However after we committed her to come to church and she didnt look to sure, so i asked her what is holding her back, was it the 8 children that you will have to take care of? she said yes , but also she doesnt have the full support from her husband and he doesnt seeem very intrested. so, i bore my testimony  aboiut how i came to be converted and how i was living the gospel all on my own, but how much it has blessed me, i teared a little bit . But then we committed her to

LIFE IS A STREAM

by:aellen ross daileg Life is a stream... it continuously flows sometimes very quick and sometimes too slow. Though sometimes stagnant But later will go Sometimes overflowing But sometimes too hollow. Sometimes in deep And sometimes in shallow That's what life is A collision of cheers and sorrow. Sometimes maybe dim But surely will glow. Sometimes we're under But sometimes below. The struggles that hits us Should be the reason to grow. So keep moving forward Because life is a stream It continuously flows...

"I am so grateful for the gospel, do you know why?" by Camille Ramos

Its been a busy busy week for me. I had attended the burial of my auntie's best friend (whom i called mom since i was a little, cause that's what she wanted to be called by me) last January 12, 2014 and i also attended my aunt's funeral service (the sister in law of my mom) last saturday and sunday. I saw how many people was shocked cause of what happened. I saw how they were really hurt and how they mourn cause of their loss and i am one of those who mourn and was shocked. I saw and was able to be with my two aunt's since i was a kid and up until before they died. I had a lot of memories with them. I knew how kind they were, how selfless they were, how they cared for everyone around them, how faithful they were, how incredible they were. I was not as great as they were, but i have one thing that they don't have. I have the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was raised with the gospel in our lives and i am so much grateful about it. We introduced the Gospel to them but they

Since Its Sunday: Each Life........

There are so many people in our lives that could become a best friend if we just allowed them into our lives. And even if they don't become a best bosom buddy who you ask to be your maid of honor, they might be the person you need to talk to that day. You never know what someone might say to you that might change the way you think about things..... Each life can touch our lives for good.  If we just let it! Why a Japanese would 'worship' America

When I first began interviewing Kotaro, I was eating Sushi, and I was surprised that he went so far as to say that he did not want to try because it reminded him of Japan. Kotaro is a foreign student from Japan, and from the very first day that I met him. His embrace of the American Culture was very bold. When I asked him about this. He was so bold as to say that he worshipped America. I further saw that he went so far as to somewhat forsake his Japanese Culture. Some people may think that his decisions and attitude is of extremism, for Kotaro wrote a book of his life. 70% of the readers of the autobiography thinks that "I am stupid," but I see that he is a great serviceable man. In this interview and seeing his informed personality, this article will introduce you to the culture of Japan as well as why a Japanese foreign student as Kotaro loves America. One of the main things that Kotaro loves is the individualism of America. Japanese seems to have a norm that is to

First Post from STEPHANIE!!!!!

HELLO readers!!!  I was so excited and flattered when Alex asked me to be a part of this blog.  One of the things I love about blogging is the community the "blogosphere" creates and I am so glad that there is a little place in that wide community for LDS singles to share! I currently live in St Louis and have a busy schedule as a nurse at a local children's hospital.  But I hope to post as often as I can.  It can be hard to navigate the CRAZY that is being a young single adult in the Mormon culture.  But it also can be very fun.  So hopefully we can all figure it out together! January 16, 2014

This week has been very nice. I worked five days this week, and I am happy about that, for it is the maximum amount of days that I can work. Before I move on to other subjects, I would like to write about the people that I work with, so you can know the people of my day and residence. Many of them only speak Spanish, so I feel like I work in a foreign nation. I lived in China before I came to work here for the first time, and I don't feel much different. I joked on Facebook once that I feel like I work among Despicable Me minions. Although there are many young people, most people have children even though they are teenage and single. When I work in the factory, I try to be the most efficient that I can. We put these cardboard contraptions called dividers into boxes to keep the product presentable. Most people open them one at a time with both hands, but I take two and press them against my chest to open them. I thought about the probability of error, which was not high; however, a

Soften My Heart

There was a rather profound question that was asked today. "What was it?" " [W]hat does a modern Mormon do about issues that chafe at them, which scripture is seen to support and several prophets have spoken on? " And you know what? "What's that?" This is an issue that doesn't just affect modern members of the Church. In fact, it's something that's been around for a  long  time. "Really?" Yes - and this is what we're getting into today. *** I bet they wished that they had listened to Lehi when Jerusalem fell! Long, long ago, there was a Prophet named  Lehi  who lived in Jerusalem - his ministry began (as far as we know)  six hundred years  before Christ was born. He was instructed of The Lord to begin to preach and prophesy concerning the Messiah and the imminent destruction of Jerusalem. The people heard him, and  they didn't like it . They wanted to  kill  Lehi . The Lord
